Happy Birthday Spookie

(Guest Post – Justin)

Happy 39th Birthday Stefanie.  This is the last year of your 30’s and I am about to do something that I constantly advise against . . . a blog post with lots of pictures.  I cannot help it (and now I kind of get why you do it) . . . today was a good day.

We started the day with the traditional breakfast in bed and the girls helped by cutting the strawberries.

Larissa had decorated the kitchen last night, so did not want the girls to eat breakfast in there.  They went to the craft table and Harper made her own tray.

Little Ms. Avery was still with fever today, so we decided to take it easy (Maddy easy anyway).  We started the adventure with cake that Larissa and the girls made yesterday (talking 11 AM!! cake people).  The girls shared their presents with Mom.  Larissa did an awesome job all week helping the girls with their gifts.

We were off to Meadowlark to hang out and then have a light snack picnic, that way we could still eat for our 4:30 dinner reservations with all the other old people. (Happy 39th Birthday Stefanie).

We even checked out the Atrium where Stefanie and I got married (a week and it will be 10 years!!).  Stefanie showed the girls the Bridesmaid room.

After our picnic at Meadowlark we headed off to Gravelly Point to watch the Airplanes take off.

Even this guy was saying Happy Birthday!!

Our 4:30 dinner just wore this little girl out.

I love you more than anything, Happy Birthday Stefanie.

Backs at Meadowlark

Finally back at Meadowlark for one of our summer visits.  I still love this place and the serenity of the surroundings.  We have been going here with the girls since Avery and Emerson were infants….look at them now!  I can’t get over how quickly they are growing up.   Seriously slow down time!

Meadowlark

It’s been a year since we were last at Meadowlark.  We didn’t have a lot of time today in between gym, cleaning up the house and going to my parents for Passover tonight but we managed to squeeze in a little over an hour there.

My mom and I took the girls to Kohl’s yesterday and I bought them (okay mostly Avery and Emerson) new clothes to play in.  I really didn’t buy them much last year and they literally have only a few pairs of pants left that fit them and are without holes or stains.  Everything was 50% off and I had another 30% off coupon so I the dresses that Avery and Emerson are wearing I got for $7 each.  And the dress that Harper is wearing is a hand me down from Avery and Emerson….Gigi actually got it for Avery and Emerson a few years ago!

We have been coming to Meadowlark at least a few times a year since Avery and Emerson were born and just watching all my girls run around non-stop, I just take it all in….I can’t believe that they are already this big!  I adore each and every one of them….they each have so many qualities that just make me smile…I am so fortunate to be their mama!

Winter Walk of Lights

Friday evening we took Avery and Emerson to Meadowlark’s Winter Walk of Lights.  This year we were lucky enough to have my sister and Gabo accompany us.  As much as we wanted to take Harper, we decided it made more sense to leave her at home with my parents since it was so cold out.  We ALL bundled up and had a great time.  It was awesome to see the girls enjoy the lights so much and it was really cool to see the girls (especially Emerson) interact with my sister. Emerson wanted to hold Auntie Lauren’s hand and follow her everywhere she went.  It actually made me sad when I said goodbye to her that night as she and Gabo were leaving for Guatemala the next morning. I didn’t grow up very close to my aunts and uncles or cousins and my girls likely won’t either…unless my sister and Gabo move back to the states one day once the baby making begins.  What do you say there Auntie Lauren?

Here are a few pics of the gang from the evening.

Seriously, Lauren if you wanted a picture all by yourself, why didn’t you just say so?

Meadowlark – Memorial Day Weekend

This year for Mother’s Day Justin and the girls got me a season family pass for Meadowlark Gardens.  Sunday of Memorial Day weekend was a beautiful day and we ventured there to start our weekend.  It was a little breezy, but the skies were sunny and beautiful.  Our first stop was the Kid’s Garden, where the girls enjoyed exploring and having a tea party with the insects.

Next we strolled along the path to destination gazebo.

I wanted to get a picture of the girls holding daddy’s hands at the same time, but they aren’t into sharing mommy and daddy.  While Emerson held Daddy’s hand, Avery was holding Mommy’s hand.

I was able to nudge Avery to go catch up with Daddy and Emerson for a brief moment, before she headed back my way….

When we first got to the gazebo the girls were a little hesitant, especially Avery. But by the time we were ready to leave, the girls did not want to leave.  We saw colorful fish and turtles. The girls really enjoyed it and it was so awesome just to see how “grown up” they are becoming.
We spotted some ducks along the pond after leaving the gazebo and stopped to look at them.
The girls kept wanting to go after them though and considering they were far into the pond, we decided it wasn’t the safest place to stay.  After a few pictures the girls started to become cranky so we decided to call it a day at Meadowlark and save the rest of our energy for Viva Vienna later this afternoon!

Winter Walk of Lights

This year at Meadowlark Gardens (where Justin and I were married :)) they had a Winter Walk of Lights.  I drive by it on my way home from work every night and when we passed by it again this weekend, Justin and I knew we had to go.  Tonight was the coldest night of the season thus far at 37 degrees.  We bundled the girls up and they seemed to have a pretty good time despite their super red cheeks.  I was really hoping to get a good picture of the girls for our holiday card but they just don’t like to sit still and look at the camera.  Here we are enjoying the holiday music and watching the light show.

Reaching up to catch the lights!!

Meadowlark – Birthday Weekend

Image

I’m not very good with the computer so it took me a few weeks from the time I decided to blog to finally set one up…Thanks hubby!!   My birthday weekend was a few weeks ago but it was SO much fun.  Saturday we took the girls to Meadowlark.  The weather was  nice and sunny.  We dressed the girls in their white dresses, the ones we used for their 1st birthday pictures.  I figured they would grow out of them before the next warm season.  So we put a blanket down and attempted to take pictures of the girls together.  Needless to say the idea worked better in my head than it did on paper. Emerson kept running away the second I placed her down and Avery kept moving as well.  We got a few pictures; albeit not the ones I pictured in my head.   After realizing a true photo session was not going to occur we walked around the gardens and looked at the fish and the ducks.  Avery even started saying duck! The girls would not stay on the blanket alone as I had planned so I had to sit with them and even then I still had one “runaway”.  So here is just me and Avery.

And the “runaway” returned!

Once bottles were done, we strolled along the path….

….and made our way to the Gazebo where we saw lots of koi

…and attempted a few more pictures with Mommy! Wait we weren’t ready…

Okay, now….Mommy is ready 🙂

Okay so maybe we didn’t get the perfect picture, but we had a fun time!
