After a rainy dreary LAZY Saturday where showers and dressing in real clothes was overrated, we welcomed the sunny warm day today and being OUTSIDE! We took the girls to Arlington National Cemetery. We saw the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and The Changing of the Guard, the John F. Kennedy Gravesite, and walked along the paths of tombstones of those who honorably served our nation.
It was a beautiful day and I love instilling a little bit about our nations history and those who give the ultimate sacrifice to serve our country.
Happy Thanksgiving from these turkeys!
Her first season of soccer has come and gone. She was named the “Most Improved Player” by her coaches and was told she should continue to focus on hustling.
She just signed up to play again in the fall…we’ll continue practicing an hustling to get ready for the next season!
Last week, we said goodbye to our ’99 civic; the same civic that my parents bought me when I was a junior in college! From the age of 20 to age 39, she was a part of me! Seriously, how crazy is that! I owned that car for half my life! It was a great car for a college student and even into my young adulthood. This was the car that I picked Justin up in when we went out on “dates” in college. This was the car that we drove to many of concerts at Nissan Pavilion and used for our tailgates. This was the car that I got into two accidents on the same day (that story for another day)! In recent years, it has been a great car for our au pairs. But in recent years, it has also been the source of disbelief and contention that as almost 40 year olds Justin and I would still have to drive the civic to work about once a week. We have tossed out the idea of replacing it for the last three or so years and each time, we have decided to keep the civic just a little longer. UNTIL last week…when it broke down….$800 to fix it tipped the scale of what we were willing to pay. So after 19 years we said one last goodbye to our civic as it sat in the car shop where it was towed after it broke down.
It was a good ride!
The girls all chose their costumes early this year….as in mid-September!Avery and Harper made their costume decisions upon arriving in the costume section of Hanna Anderson last month.
Emerson decided she wanted to be a bride around the same time and I searched on Amazon to find the perfect dress. My mom spent HOURS hemming it….all five layers of it! She was all about posing! A little foresight into the future. Seriously gorgeous!
The girls and Larrisa.
Slowly adding one more adult at a time to the picture.
While I was weak in my Halloween costume this year, I was strong in my cul-de-sac socializing. We trick or treated for an hour and then proceeded to spend five more hours hanging out by the bonfire. I’m still not even sure how that is possible. The girls went to bed much earlier than that…fortunately Larrisa was willing to go in early and give the girls shower and put them to bed! TREAT! All night, I was living in the moment and so appreciative of the wonderful neighborhood we live in and I didn’t want to miss a minute.
The girls all filled their pumpkin and had a great time trick-or-treating and hanging out with our awesome neighborhood.
